It's been years since I visited the River Safari , so I decided to give the Nikon D850 and my Nikkor 60mm f2.8 micro lens a workout at this attraction.
I recommend bringing a macro lens like the Nikkor 60mm or the Nikkor 105mm to places like this as the lighting can be pretty dim so the fast aperture of f2.8 can help a lot. Also the macro lenses allow for very close distance focusing which is an excellent way to capture impactful images !!
The Nikon D850's Auto Focus performance was excellent , no complaints at all. The camera locked on every time, there was no hunting at all even with moving subjects and sometimes low light/low contrast subjects.
Focus hit rate was also very high , my standard of a successful focus is capturing tack sharp eyes of the subjects. Today's hit rate was about 85% which was excellent given subject motion and shooting through thick glass.
